ITEM : For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare pair of abstract figural table lamps. Circa’50s /’60s. The figures are a ceramic pottery material, and they are a brownish color with green highlights. They each rest atop a biomorphic wooden base that is painted black (see photos). While we aren’t 100% certain on the artist, the figures remind us of Jitka Forejtova, and the wooden bases remind us of Heifetz. Each lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is located at the socket. No shades present – it’ll be left up to the purchaser to provide their own. They’re stellar lamps that’ll look great in any interior setting! The female lamp on the left in the photos is approx. 24.75 tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the final). 17.75 to the socket from the bottom of the base. The figure itself is approx. 12″ tall x 7.5″ wide, and her wooden base is approx. 9.5″ wide x 5.75″ deep. The male lamp on the right in the photos is approx. 24.75 tall, and the distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. 12.75″ tall x 8″ wide. His base measures approx. 8.75″ wide x 5.5″ deep. CONDITION : Given their age and rarity, we say they’re in overall very good condition. The female lamp has a few imperfections which we’ll mention now. First off, it appears she had a careful repair done to her outstretched hand by a previous owner (see photos). It isn’t readily noticeable unless you are looking for it, but it is there, and is being mentioned for accuracy. The top side of the wooden base that she rests on has some minor paint loss (see photos). The other figure doesn’t appear to have any issues, nor does its wooden base – no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. The electrical wiring looks original with no issues to report – no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas. The lamp is in fully functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always suggest having a licensed professional inspect the wiring prior to long-term use, just to be safe. Pasadena, San Jose, San Jose City College Mid Century Modernist style Studio Art Pottery. Hand built rectangular shaped bottle vase with figural incised sgraffito designs on all four sides. Matte slate blue-gray glaze with hints of lavender and sienna. Very reminiscent of the work of Edwin & Mary Scheier, Marguerite Wildenhain, Edna Arnow, Raul Coronel, and others. Beautiful matte glazed surface over oxide enhanced figural designs. Buff colored stoneware ceramic body. Incised “SALISIAN” at underside. In Excellent vintage condition with no damages we can find other than what appears to be an open glaze bubble pop at foot near a corner, barely visible. Measures approximately 7.25 inches tall, and 6 x 3 inches in diameter. Weighs approximately 3.50 lbs. Will weigh between 5 and 6 lbs packaged. More pics upon request. ONE OF A KIND. Turquoise Figural Head Planter. Sculptural Ceramic Art Object. A striking example of mid-century modern sculptural design, this ceramic figural head planter embodies the era’s fascination with form, serenity, and bold color. Rendered in a luminous turquoise crackle glaze, the stylized visage features closed eyes and softly contoured features, evoking a calm, meditative presence that transcends its functional origins. The flat, open crown is designed to serve as a planter, yet the piece stands equally well as a standalone art object, reflecting the postwar ideal of merging utility with sculpture. The intentional crackle glaze-highly sought after by collectors-adds depth, texture, and visual movement, enhancing the artisanal character of the piece. 2 Rare Mid Century Modern Pottery Green Flowing Hair Figural Girl Lamps 1 Shade. Stunning beautiful lamps, one with original shade and finial. Flowing hair dress woman figure, both show wear, one lamp has multiple areas where it has small chips on back side of lamp, a few near the bottom edge where the cord is and the other noticeable chip is also on the back of the lamp on the top edge of the dress. There are small chips on the lower edges of the dresses on both lamps, see third to last picture. The bottom of where the cord comes into the lamp there are various minor chips and a few very small cracks, see last picture for more detail. The other lamp has less chips, one small chip on the front of the lamp on the bottom edge of the dress, see second to last picture to see chip. See pictures to view chipped areas/small cracks, very minor. The edge of the dresses on the lamps have a lighter green band design. General wear to the lamp poles. Shade has some overall minor wear from age, on the bottom rim of the shade there is a small break in one of the weaved pattern that goes along the rim, very minor. The shade shows overall minor wear/imperfections and has unique designs, no cracks or breaks in the shade. Possible stain going from top to bottom on one side of the shade, see pictures, the shade has many designs in it so hard to tell. Both lamps have been tested and work. The other lamp doesn’t have shade or finial. The bottoms of the lamps are both missing the felt. Some general light dust/wear/imperfections to these lamps from age and use but they both still are in amazing shape for their age and are so beautiful! One switch is a little tighter than the other, both in working condition, cords show wear from age but no major imperfections. Truly stunning mid century modern pieces. I tried to document all noticeable chips/imperfections as I examined them, there may be very minor ones that were missed or not pictured. All chips/cracks are small and minor though and don’t take away much of the beauty of these lamps! Message me with any questions thanks. These are wonderful whimsical mid-century modern lamps of a girl with flowing dress and hair in a beautiful green with a light green band at the bottom of the dress and one has a gorgeous original hide or fiberglass lamp shade! Mid Century Modern Very Rare Porcelain Female Figural Back Lighted Lamp. TV, Bedroom or Parlor. This beautiful porcelain back lighted lamp has a wonderful hand painted face.. And flesh tone body. The flowing dress has a lace design that (I believe) is actual material and then coated over. The necklace has a rhinestone pendant and yellow beads on chain around the neck. It is completely original and is in excellent condition for its age. Measures: 15 inches tall x 10 inches wide x 6 inches deep. Weighs: 6 lbs 9 oz (prepackaging). See pictures for details.
