Very Rare – Famed Designer Ettore Sottsass for Il Sestante – Enameled Copper Plate designed circa 1958. Part of a collection in enameled copper that Sottsass created for the opening of Il Sestante Gallery in Milan in 1958. Like the ceramic vases from his early career, the plate signal a transition in Sottsass’s practice. The simple geometric patterning and shapes reflect the influence of the Wiener Werkstätte and the Bauhaus, while the infusion of color and the playfulness of the designs are harbingers of his later work. Pre-Owned and in clean, good condition, however as you can see it does have a chip and some scratches. Pricing accordingly, however this is still a very rare valuable find. Measurements is 6 inches. Pair of Imperial number 6 Decanter with mould blown stopper. The same decanter in crystal, with a different stopper, was part of the “Twist” Glassware line in the early 1950s. Imperial called the orange color “Bittersweet” and the opaque yellow is called Jonquil. These are hand blown into moulds are were quite expensive to make. These colors were only made circa 1958/1959. 13.25 tall in very good condition with no damage or stains. There is some UV reactivity as shown in the photos. Safe, secure and sturdy packaging of glassware always.
