David Gil Coop Designs Bennington Mid Century Abstract Stylized Bird Bowl. Early Abstract Stylized Bird Bowl by David Gill. David Gil is a very well known ceramic artist of the mid 20th century. This is a abstract stylized bird bowl (looks like a chicken) by David. It is a rare, seldom seen form from his earlier period. Piece has 1 damage, 1 tip of tail feathers knocked off. Note last 2 photos for location. It has no glaze bubble or pops , no stilt marks. It is 5″ tall, 10″ wide, 4.38 deep. It has a beautiful spalted like green/blue & brown glaze. Collaboration was a driving force for him as he began his career in the late 1940s. The first phase was began in an unheated barn and was called Cooperative Design or Coop Design that is part of the mark on the bottom. Gil won many awards in the 1950s and work was exhibited internationally. He was still highly collected in the 1960s after he changed the name of the studio to Bennington Potteries. Very beautiful, rare adjustable ceiling pendant lamp Onos Seitenzug by Florian Schulz Germany 1960s. Very high quality workmanship. This lamp has a heavy brass ball on the side to adjust the height. It gives a very nice diffuse light with the reflector screen and the small diffuser. Goes very well with the mid-century design over a dining table. The lamp is in very good condition. Brass with a beautiful patina, no dents. Works at 110V to 230V and is suitable for all countries. The pictures are part of the description. Mysterious early design of Schultzs iconic Petal Table, where the branch-like base supports the eight individual redwood petals that make up the tables surface. In good vintage condition. Weather resistant redwood makes this example desirable for both indoors and outdoors. Finish on the base is bright with no rust or corrosion. Offered is this very rare vintage 1950s Alvar Aalto 3031 glass vase. Its a massive piece measuring 30.5cm tall(12″) and top edge diameter is 30.5cm(12″) x 29cm(11.4). Engraved signature on the base. The condition is excellent with the only damage(other than normal signs of age and use like minor scratches to the base) a shallow flake to the top rim as pictured. This can easily be polished off by a professional as the rim already has a flat ground and polished edge. This is an original early wood mould blown example which you can see by the waviness of the glass. It’s a much more beautiful effect than the newer metal moulded production. Dated from 1950s, designed by Vladimir Kagan and manufactured by Kagan-Dreyfuss Inc, New York, this rarely seen model of armoire features an elegant bleached mahogany exterior with metal legs and an fitted interior with shelves and drawers. The simple form was punctuated by the use of a pair of oversized pulls with carved scroll design.
