Mid-Century Modern Solid Nesting Teak Wood Canister set. The lid and cannister part are all solid wood, one piece for each! The handle has not been added, but rather is an integral part of the entire turned lid. A stunning set to display in your decor! My hubby is is a wood worker and turner, and he felt compelled to revisit his board feet calculation skills… Incredibly, this his six piece set would have required a minimum of 9.5 board feet! What is a board foot you may ask… A unit of lumber measure that is a 1 foot by 1 foot square that is 1 thick. Large and heavy teak wood set measures approximately large 10 1/2 inches high to the top handle by 9 3/8 inch base diameter, medium 8 1/2 inches tall to the top handle by 7 5/8 inch diameter and the small canister is 6 3/4 inch tall to the top handle and 5 5/8 inch base diameter. The set, nested and put on our postal scale weighs in at 10.12 pounds! (4.6 Kg) These have no glue joints, not staved or laminated in any way, and the largest lid would have started out as a massive slab over 4 thick! The lids for the two largest of the set have small reliefs turned into the interior to accommodate the integral teak knobs of the other lids when in nested mode. The overall vintage condition is very good with some minor little marks to the exterior sides of the canisters, commensurate with age.
