6 RARE 1920s Cesca Dining Cane arm chairs Marcel Breuer thonet. The B64 chair was designed by Marcel Breuer for Thonet in 1927. These original Thonet chair are made of chrome-plated tubular steel, dstained beech, bentwood and cane. The first producer of the B64 was Thonet, starting in 1927. Later in the 1950s, Gavina also started making them with Breuer’s blessing and participation. Gavina was the first to name the chair the “Cesca”, after Breuer’s daughter, Francesca. H 80 cm x W 58 cm x D 60 cm, Sh. These are museum-quality pieces. One of the caning is a little messed up. But it is easily fixed. This is the real deal. These are more of a statement piece. Vintage Set of 6 matching B64 Cesca Chairs designed by Marcel Breuer and produced by Thonet, features a beautiful modernist cantilever design, crafted of walnut wood and hand-woven cane seats, tubular steel chromed frames with curved caned back panels.. Made in italy (under the arm rest) Marcel Breuer designed the B64 chair in 1927 and was produced by Michael Thonet in 1928 in Poland. Thonet produced the chair until World War II. Awesome six piece set of curved high back mid century modern dining chairs, by Lane Furniture. I obsessionally scoured the internet for quite some time, and could not find any others out there. They kind of have some Gio Ponti vibes going on… All 6 of the dining chairs are solid, sturdy, and functional. The original upholstery isn’t bad at all, and is overall pretty clean, a couple seats might possibly need just a tiny bit of minor cleaning in a spot or two. No big rips, tears, smells, stains, etc…. The only wear on the wood to note is a couple hairline splits to the wood (pictured), both of which don’t effect the overall aesthetic or structural integrity. I didn’t even notice the splits until long after I originally took the photos. The dining chairs measure roughly 47.25″ tall x 18″ wide x 18″ deep, and 19″ tall from the floor to the seat. The captain’s chairs have the same dimensions except that the arms make them 22.25″ wide, and the arms measure 25″ tall at their lowest point from the floor up.
