Rare Carlo Ratti Italian Executive Mid Century Desk in Bent Mahogany Ply
This stunning Italian mid century executive desk is a showcase of modern design. Conceived by Carlo Ratti, this incredible piece is executed in bent mahogany ply, and supported by patinated industrial steel frame. The center support is accented by articulating atomic legs, capped with polished brass feet. Two organic bent ply drawers to the left span the entire depth of the desk, and a bank of four drawers to the right provide additional storage. A drop down bar cabinet on the back finishes off this exquisite piece. This rare find will be the centerpiece of any modern collection. Presented in excellent original condition. Up for sale is a Mid-Century Modern Chair designed by Verner Panton and manufactured by Herman Miller, which was actually made in May of 1973. You can tell the manufacture date because of the clock like image on the back of the chair (please see our picture 6). You can see the year 1973 near the top and the arrow that points to the 5, which indicates it was made in the month of May. According to the Verner Panton Furniture Website, the chairs made of this thermoplastic polystyrene (Luran S) material, can be identified by the ridges below the bend between the seating area and the base. (Please see our pic 4) These ridges were placed there to add support. From what we’ve learned, this green is a rare color in this series. Measurements are as follows: Overall height of the chair at the back is 32-3/4″, Height to the front of the seat is 16″, Height at the backside of the seat is 18″, Width of the seat from outside to outside is 19″, the backrest is 17-1/2″ from the seat to the top, Depth of the seat from the front of the seat to the curve up of the backrest is 16″. All of these measurements are close, but could easily be measured slightly differently, depending on your starting and ending points. Overall condition is really good, except for a few scratches as shown in the pictures and a couple of circles of slightly off-color green (both sides) on the seat where your hips would sit. Sorry, but I was unable to get a good picture of that. Please see and enlarge our pictures for details. However, we would be willing to work with a shipper of your choice.
