EXTREMELY RARE Heath Ceramics Combed STUDIO VASE c. 1960
This was an early series of vases, covered jars and other objects designed and thrown around 1960 by Edith Heath herself. This particular vase features an engobe glaze in tan with a glazed onyx interior in dark green to black. The neck of the vase is a deep blue to green. The vase is signed with the Heath and teacup mark, which is among her earliest marks. This rare vessel is hand combed and glazed to create the feel of an earthy landscape of rolling hills and golden grasses evoking the color of California’s hillsides in Summer through early Fall. The dusty, smooth tan engobe of the neck evokes California’s deserts beneath her tawny, grassy late summer hills. The vase measures 7″ h x 7″ w and is free from chips, scratches, warping and other issues. The engobe is a subtle testament to the beauty of California’s golden light on her rolling hills. With the dark glaze in the collar evoking distant mountains. Don’t miss this opportunity to add this rare vase to your Mid-century Modern Studio ceramic collection. It is compatible with Danish Modern, Knoll Mid-Century interiors with furniture and other objects by Isamu Noguchi, Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, and other luminaries. The vase complements ceramic collections by the Natzlers, Marguerite Wildenhain, Vivika and Otto Heino, who also used combed decoration on their objects, and other fine potters of the era. The item “EXTREMELY RARE Heath Ceramics Combed STUDIO VASE c. 1960″ is in sale since Sunday, October 6, 2019. Rare Early Heath Ceramics Sea And Sand Combed Studio Vase C. 1948
RARE EARLY HEATH CERAMICS SEA & SAND COMBED STUDIO VASE C. I have seen only one other Heath Sea & Sand studio vase in my 30 years of avid collecting. T he museum-quality v ase is o f impressive size and technique, featuring a hand-combed semi-gloss and heavily speckled Sand exterior with a rich high-gloss Sea interior. The hand-combed surface and basket f orm is reminiscent of California N ative American basketry, possibl y produced for exhibition purposes. T his piece is n ot commercial Heath Ceramics dinnerware, but is a studio vase made for exhibition. In fact, this is not a commercial f orm meant for production. This is the only example of this form a nd glaze combination I have ever encountered. The vase measures 6. 5 h igh with a 7. 5 diameter at the shoulder. The vessel is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It is signed with the early Heath & Teacup mark. The vase exhibits an incredible amount of handwork including the deeply hand- combed exterio r. S tudio vases by Heath Ceramics are extremely rare and almost never appear on the market as most of them are already in private and museum collections. This unique and important Heath Pottery vase will find favor with collectors of Studio masters such as Otto and Gertrud Natzler, Marguerite Wildenhain, Vivika and Otto Heino, Bea Wood, Glen Lukens, Antonio Prieto and Peter Voulkos. Dont miss this opportunity to acquit th is rare and important piece. As one of the earliest examples of Edith Heaths studio work, it will find favor with collectors of Studio masters such as Otto and Gertrud Natzler, Marguerite Wildenhain, Vivika and Otto Heino, Bea Wood, Glen Lukens, Antonio Prieto and Peter Voulkos. RARE ORIGINAL 40s STRAND ELECTRIC PATT THEATRE STUDIO LAMP STAND COMPLETE
Rare original Strand Theatre/studio lamp stand. Surplus to requirements (sad but true). Check those lovely little atomic Bakelite ball toggle-clamps in black and maroon. The hooky bit is to hang your looped lamp cable on. Levelling bolts in the base could be replaced with castors for ease of movement. Fully extended height a little over 7 feet 4 inches. Lowest height around 4 feet. Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Why have a pale imitation, or one of those (frankly wrong) wooden surveyors’ tripods when you can have the real thing to hold your Strand lamp? Please check all the photos. It will necessitate two packages. One for the base unit, another for the upright. RARE Early Vintage 1950's George Nakashima Studio Pair Captains Chairs Walnut
D ROSE MOD, Inc. RARE Early Vintage 1950’s George Nakashima Studio Pair Captains Chairs Walnut. Listed for sale is an original pair of George Nakashima captain’s chairs, never refinished and in gorgeous original condition. Uniquely, the two chairs vary dimensionally from more recent examples produced at the Nakashima Studio. Per the last two photos in this listing, the chairs were both brought to Mira Nakashima for authentication and assessment. Due to the informal nature of production in the 1950’s, Mira believes these to be early examples prior to George deciding on a single specific dimension. She also believes that they very well may have been special ordered for a couple with one taller and one shorter individual. As a result, the backrest crests vary from one another. Mira will be providing a written letter, which will be made available to you upon purchasing the chairs. Furthermore, I have an order card (not specifically mentioning these chairs, as it was a later order card) from the Nakashima Studio from the same family, as this came from an estate with many Nakashima pieces. The price listed is for one chair. Both chairs are available. And I will make sure that it is as inexpensive for you as possible. I work with a shipper locally who has great prices and has been complemented often on their superb packing. D ROSE MOD was founded in order to pursue a passion for modern design.
