Fabulous Vintage McGUIRE SAN FRANSISCO Dining Set FOLDOUT TABLE 6 CHAIRS LACED LEATHER “LACED RAWHIDE”. This RARE AND BEAUTIFUL set includes a unique, functional fold out extension table with 6 chairs that are woven leather seats and backs. Excellent Condition : CHAIRS: Sturdy and Solid. The Frame is a bentwood rattan accented at the seams with wrapped leather. Two additional braces under the seats along with the heavy frame exemplifies the extremely high standards of this furniture builder. The frame is wrapped and braided with “LACED RAWHIDE” (Name Coined and used by McGuire) woven 1/4 leather straps for the back and seat. The Leather is extremely supple for its age and does not show any cracking. It has been meticulously cared for. The top is a square open basket weave and the bottom is a tight geometric intricate pattern. There are 6 accompanying cushions in a fine Blue and Cream upholstery fabric. Exceptions: There is one chair that has discolored leather on the back and seat. This is either due to leather aging difference or has been replaced at some point. Similarly there is one other chair that has darker leather binding at a couple of joints. (one has torn/ scratched leather see photo). At the top of the one chair there are a couple detached pieces of leather. It does not effect function or aesthetics. TABLE: Again Sturdy and Solid. Unique to the mid Century design this table functions both as a SQUARE and A RECTANGLE. The top opens in a convenient style and turns on its base to double in size. The base is rattan with a wrapped bamboo Chinese Accent. The Table top is a Laminate with finished edges in the same color. Size: CHAIRS: Back Height: 35. TABLE: Closed Square: 36″L x 36″W x 30H. Open Rectangle: 72″L x 36″W. Rare to find a set in this condition. A Fabulous example of MCM or Hollywood Regency. Happy to answer any questions! This is a stunning pair of McGuire furniture officers chairs in excellent condition. The frames and rawhide trim are in near perfect condition. The large brass fittings are perfect with a vintage patina. I do not know if the red leather is original custom or replaced decades ago but it is strong and good to be used for years and years.
