For your consideration is a very RARE, genuine Mr. Chair r ecliner with a built-in footrest. This gives you the comfort of putting your feet up on an ottoman but in a fraction of the space. It was designed by George Mulhauser and manufactured by Plycraft in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Mulhauser used to work with Charles Eames when they were designing the Eames Lounge and Ottoman, then he struck out on his own and went into business for himself. The recliner feature is hard enough to find but this particular style is extremely rare. Also of note is the back of the chair – one continuous piece of molded plywood attaches the headrest to the chair – it is not attached with metal, as is the usual style. You will not find another on the internet or I suspect anywhere. Dimensions (all are close but not exact). Depth in upright position: 32. Depth in recline position #1: 48. Depth in recline position #2: 57. Note that the base has four points and the distance from the end of one to the one across from it is 37 So the base is wider than the chair. The avocado green upholstery is still in good condition but the seat looks like it’s sinking and that’s because the “webbing” or whatever you call the bands on the bottom that hold the foam in place, have deteriorated and broken. So the foam doesn’t have anything holding it in place. The foam probably needs replacing as well. I don’t actually sit in this chair so the foam is still basically where it should be. I used to sit in the chair before the webbing broke and it is very comfortable – especially when reclined into one of the 2 positions. It has the wear and tear expected of a an older chair. There are some scuffs and chips on the plywood. My photos capture the general condition. The home is smoke-free and has been pet free for the last 12 years. Before that, I had a lovely dog but I don’t see any of her hair on the chair. However, I can’t guarantee that sweet Sophie’s hair is not lurking inside this chair. You can find Eames loungers and replicas all day long but you will not see another chair like this one – act fast. Items are from a smoke-free home. Please dont hesitate to contact me with questions. Up for Sale is a Rare Pair of 1950’s Streamline Heywood Wakefield Wheat Built-In Niche Nightstands. These were made to be connected to a headboard and they are also freestanding with a drop down cabinet door. They measure 32-1/2 inches tall by 14″ wide by 11″deep and are both in very good vintage condition. They show normal signs of wear from age and use such as light scratches, marks, and nicks. As you can see in the photos they were meant to be screwed in the headboard or pushed up on each side of one.
