Rare 1952/53 Jens Risom designed sofa for Hans Knoll. This important piece is one of Risom’s first designs. Made for Hnas Knoll’s furniture company (before his wife Florence joint the design firm). Appears to be original wool beige/ivory hopsack upholstery which is hand stitched at corners. Arm design have a Hans Wegner “Papa Bear” chair vibe. This is an iconic design from a well known designer and well worth the effort to refurbish. Overall dimensions: 78 long x 31 tall x 31 depth. Structurally, wood frame in very good, sturdy condition. The metal springs in the center seat section are broken in a few places so will need repair or replacement before reupholstery. Upholstery is in good enough condition with only a couple stains and can be carefully removed and used as a pattern for reupholstery. This is a handcrafted Vintage Mid Century Modern 41″ x 26″ Brass Coffee table with folding legs. These tables were made in the mid 1900s. Some came out of Morocco and Turkey, this one most likely form India. This piece is RARE in that the design is perforated as well as hand chiseled and hammered w. Ith exquisite floral and geometric designs and pie crust edging. I’ve yet to find any other examples with the design cut out like this one. In addition, I’ve only found one other with the carvings in the legs. The table has a nice patina around the edges. The center was only cleaned up for the pictures, not polished to the full extent. The legs are sturdy and have been refinished. The hinges seem to be in good order but are aging. When the table is set on the legs it stands firm. This table can also be hung on a wall.
